Ben Iyke James Enwereji is a fast rising and promising Afro-Pop,R&B and Reggae artist in Nigeria West Africa who goes by Benie Jay.
Born in October 9th 1985 in Aba,Abia State,south-east part of the country where he also grew up.He is the second of 7 kids of Mr&Mrs James Alozie Enwereji,school teachers(both late).


This young versatile part time interior decorator and designer who so graciously carve...d his own niche and abandoned the fluffy lyrics and beats that many entertainers of today use just to sell records chose to inspire and motivate others to bring about some evolution of their own instead

Benie Jay has been on his grind for years though he just made his debute early this year (2011) with his Radio-favourite heavy hitting single "LOVE IS IN THE AIR"
A mid-tempo groovy and catchy R&B Song which is already a mainstay on music websites as well. Which he also sold about 11,000 pieces of ordinary promo copies of the song in clubs and bars and to a number of fans who demanded for it in his home town of Aba 'Enyimba City ', PH and Owerri in less than two weeks.

"LOVE IS IN THE AIR" A multi-purpose theme song and anthem with high rate of internet downloads in addition to 15-32 people calling the radio stations to request for it in every 24 hours.

Metaphorically, if the"hunger and spirit" of a list of who's who in both the Nigerian and International music industry like Wyclef Jean, Akon and Shaggy was embodied in one person that person would probably be Benie Jay.Even though this lyrical stunner has yet to be picked up by a label his passion and determination
precedes him.

Benie Jay's foray into the circular music world began with a simple dream,a little keyboard and a tape recorder and some quick and smart thinking led to Benie creating his first demo.While growing up he was exposed to a variety of music from Fela Kuti,Bob Marley,Kimono,John Lennon,Peter Tosh to Fugees and a whole lot of others and he soon discovered the magic of music.
"As a child I realized the power of music and the profound impact it makes on life,I live and breathe music,i don't even know how to talk and if I must talk i talk less but when it comes to music I wouldn't mind singing from this 9th October to the next 9th October.it's just my life so i've got to live it" says Benie Jay.


At the age of 14 Benie Jay knew exactly what he wanted to do with his life and started honing his singing and rapping skills and earning some local praise in his home-town Aba 'Enyimba' City where he grew up with his six siblings.And his late parents who were also music lovers set the pace and allowed him the space to master his craft.Benie later recruited his four cousins and one other friend to form a six-man gospel acappella group which he also left first to pursue his main dream(circular music) so he relocated fully to Lagos State,South-west Nigeria on his own after his mom's death in 2007 in search of greener pastures and immediately he started performing on the stages of nightclubs in Lagos,Port Harcourt and Owerri especially.


His edgy thought provoking and infectious songs have a sound that can be described as "soulful',armed with carefully crafted rhythmic beats that are sure to make you bounce and fly away to the sky.

At the moment Benie is super busy putting finishing touches to his debute album and promoting his singles.If all else fails,Benie Jay is not afraid of putting in a lot of hard work to achieve the best, "This is my own love,it's my whole life and I'm extreemly ambitious so I'm in for real" he says.

'When I have people like Asa,MI,2Face,Faze etc. to inspire and motivate me and I anticipate positive things cos I know when you put out positive energy you'll surely get it in return,why should I be afraid.I believe in Karma" he says emphatically.
